Oddly enough, Aunt Matilda received these Violet Vixen Witch Boots and the Violet Vixen Velvet Dress from Julia Tyler, wife of former president John Tyler, because she liked the vivid color and design. Meeting in 1871, Julia took a liking to my aunt because they both boldly scoffed at the idea that a women's intellect was inferior to a man's. My Aunt Matilda remembers Julia as one of the boldest women of the 19th century!
